Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Metabook ("Metabook", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Metabook website, API, and the Metabook Chrome extension.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Metabook, we may process the following information:
- Account and authentication information: username, login credentials submitted to Metabook, authentication tokens, and related account identifiers.
- User-created content: books, chapters, outlines, story settings, character notes, location notes, prompts, selected webpage text, and other writing materials that you choose to save or process with Metabook.
- Service usage information: point balances, point usage records, API requests, model choices, selected writing skill settings, timestamps, and error logs needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
- Payment-related information: if you purchase paid services, payment processing may be handled by third-party payment providers. Metabook does not store full credit card numbers in the Chrome extension.
Chrome Extension Data
The Metabook Chrome extension uses Chrome extension storage to save information locally on your device:
- Your Metabook login token after you sign in.
- Your selected default book.
- Your preferred AI model and writing skill settings for a book.
- Temporary selected text from a webpage when you use a Metabook right-click menu action.
The extension can send selected webpage text to Metabook only after you choose a Metabook context menu action and confirm how the text should be saved or used. The extension does not collect your general browsing history.
